IEP Services - Your Child May Be Missing Out

An IEP outlines the services, goals, and supports needed to meet a child's unique educational needs, ensuring access to education alongside peers, with adjustments for specialized instruction when necessary.

Is Your Child's IEP Meeting Their Needs? 🤔

Does your child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) truly address their unique learning needs? If not, this article offers tools and advice on working with your school district to improve it. There are rules, called procedural safeguards, designed to keep you involved in the IEP process from start to finish.

What is an IEP? 📝

An IEP outlines specific learning goals and the extra help (supplemental aids and services) your child needs to access education. This might include participating in regular classes, special schools, extracurricular activities, or getting related services outside the classroom.

Where are Services Provided? 🏫

An IEP usually lists services and goals for a general education setting, where children with disabilities learn alongside their peers. Sometimes, a child's needs might be better met in a smaller classroom with teachers trained to work with students with special needs. For example, children struggling with handwriting might work with an occupational therapist separately.
