Supporting Autistic Students with Comfort Items and Sleep Challenges
It’s tough starting the school year with a student who uses a blanket to nap and gets upset when redirected! Allow short “blanket breaks” with a visual timer to ease transitions, and try fidgets to keep them alert. Talk to parents or the IEP team about sleep issues and use engaging tasks to boost participation.
